Description The Great Northwest Doula Service was created in 2016 to support new and growing families throughout south Texas welcome their newest little one into the world. Owned by a dynamic and highly trained birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator and former midwifery student, he has worked with over 50 families in a wide variety of capacities both in and out of the hospital, medicated and unmedicated, and routine to medically complex deliveries. Jay has also been a Critical Paramedic for 18 years, and holds two bachelors degrees and several associates degrees in both EMS and Psychology, in addition to being an instructor for the American Heart Association, EMS Safety Services and Obstetrics for EMS. In addition to his Doula work, he trains EMS providers in how to properly assess, manage and treat pregnant, laboring and postpartum patients. So how can The Great Northwest Doula Service help you or your production? we have the unique experience, equipment and teaching expertise to serve as technical advisors for any scene you are wanting to shoot involving pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding or newborn medical issues. we can help coordinate and train actors to realistically portray and act out childbirth both in and out of the hospital in addition to help them understand and realize the subtleties of pregnancy and postpartum. additionally we have the equipment to help actors practice procedures surrounding uncomplicated vaginal childbirth. lastly we regularly utilize actresses in our obstetric trainings for EMS professionals and specialize in training EMS professionals (or those portraying them) how to successfully and correctly deliver babies in even the most medically complex scenarios. Simply put whether it is training and coaching the actor, or serving as a technical advisor, we have the training, expertise, and equipment to make your pregnancy, birth or postpartum scene look medically correct and gut wrenchingly realistic!
